Christmas Crafternoon

Who?

I am forever grateful for roomies & friends who go along with my confetti shenanigans! Callie & I recently christened the new apartment with an afternoon of friends and DIY projects aka Christmas Crafternoon! And if you’re a little intimidated by the thought of hosting a party I think even Callie (who hadn’t hosted before this) would tell you this is a great gathering to start with!

What?

I read about a crafternoon in a magazine once so obviously I needed this in my life too. Finding inspiration for parties feels like finding treasure to me & I hope this blog helps you strike gold!

I love holiday parties and Christmas + crafting just works, ya know? We invited a few gals over for a Sunday afternoon of DIY’s. I love a good ornament craft & Callie is an expert wreath creator so I bet you can guess what we made! Our pals brought other projects as well & of course we listened to all the Christmas jams while we worked.

Pro tip: host this early enough in the season so your creations can become Christmas gifts for the loved ones on your list!

How?

I don’t know about you but I can’t craft on an empty stomach! Callie whipped up three tasty flavors of shortbread cookies: Earl Grey Lavender, Lemon, & Vanilla along with a savory fare of classic hummus. My contribution was Joanna Gaines’ “Last Minute Party Dip”. The green artichoke hearts & red sun-dried tomatoes peaking out of the cream cheese base looked holiday festive…not to mention it made tastebuds very happy! Pretzels, carrot sticks, & pita chips circled the dips like a tree skirt. We also had a warm beverage station available for the gals to fix up mugs with sweet drinks of spicy apple cider tea & hot cocoa.

Some quick crafting went into the preparation for this crafternoon. I spotted Christmas light balloon strands at a local parade that seemed fitting for this party. The parade lights were red & green but I was inspired by the frosty blues, crimson reds, & pretty pinks of The Confetti Bar’s “Jolly Happy Soul” mix made in collaboration with @finding_foley.

Callie also crafted snowflakes faster than Buddy the Elf to go on the other wall that has yet to have been decorated & they turned out so cute!

Pro tip: set out all the supplies needed in baskets in the center of the table so everyone has easy access to anything they may need.

Happy Christmas crafting!
