I have a few goals for the year as a whole but my favorite is being more intentional about each individual month in 2023. My words for this year are remember & wonder. I want to do a better job of remembering the Lord’s faithfulness & people’s stories. I want to wonder at my God, at the small details I pass by everyday, at each celebration I get to savor. On the eve of each month, I’m creating fresh goals & a bucket list, if you will.
“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, what is the wealth of his glorious inheritance in the saints, & what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the mighty working of his strength.”
Ephesians 1:18-19
As part of the remembering portion of my theme for this year, ya girl has got to work on her scripture memorization! If you see me in the wild, hold me accountable to knowing this verse!
To infuse more fun & wonder to my day to day, rather than just one larger celebration each month, I’m looking for ways to celebrate the everyday. Here’s a peek at my confetti moments this month:
New Year’s Day – January 1st
Black-eyed peas! A hidden Mickey should give me extra luck, right?

National Spaghetti Day – January 4th
A spaghetti squash boat! A fun (& healthy) twist on the classic weeknight dinner.

National Bubble Bath Day – January 8th
Rainbow connection bubbly soak! I am a bath girl through & through so enjoying this luxurious Christmas gift was a dream.

Houseplant Appreciation Day – January 10th
Disco Donna! After the demise of Disco Dan (iykyk) it was time to fill the mirror ball home again.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day – January 16th
What a man! I got to read some of his convicting words.

Lunar New Year – January 22nd
Year of the rabbit! Farmer’s Market dumplings, Chinese food from a local fave, bunny pom bunting (wait ’til she’s transformed for Easter 😉).

Hot Chocolate Day – January 30th
Pink Hot Chocolate! Get The Confetti Bar’s recipe here.

Shout out to Jessica for “The Little Book of Joy” – as you can see, it’s shaping my celebrations! ☺️
Board
Mom & Dad gifted me “The Cheese Board Deck” for Christmas so one of my goals each month is to build at least one board! This month is grilled cheese and games! You’re gonna have to wait for this one though because ya girl had to re-schedule for the beginning of February…I’m still counting for January though!
Whoop whoop it happened! And lemme tell ya, this board did not disappoint! 10/10 would recommend having your pals over for a build-your-own grilled cheese board!

On the board: sliced green apples, strawberries, onion jam (recipe from The Cheese Board Deck), sautéed mushrooms, sprouts, honey fig jam, garlic jelly, & bacon. Let’s talk cheese: smoked gouda, American, provolone, pepper jack, & Swiss. Now for the carbs: sourdough & pumpernickel. We each ended up with various combos & had fun dunking them in Joanna Gaines’ tomato basil soup.
My Creation No. 1: Sourdough with American cheese, green apple slices, honey fig jam, & bacon
My Creation No. 2: Pumpernickel with provolone cheese, onion jam, & sautéed mushrooms
What would you have made??
My sweet friends all wanted to bring something to contribute to dinner. Aubrey brought the cheese (it doesn’t hurt that her father-in-law works for Boar’s Head haha!). Emily made a yummy punch. Brianna baked cutie brownies with all the sundae toppings we could dream of. When it was time for games, I lost Tenzi miserably so catch me practicing for next time! Callie & I felt so “wild” hosting people on a Monday night but it is just so much fun to gather with your people. I say this to remind you that you don’t always have to wait for a weekend to celebrate something!
Bucket list:
- Hike at one of my favorite state parks ✔️
- See “A Man Called Otto” in theatre ✔️
- Try Trader Joe’s carne asada – they were out when I went so this’ll have to be a February thing. I did try their gyro slices & some yummy sweet potato gnocchi though & I’m not mad about it.
- Volunteer at one of my favorite ministries ✔️
- Listen to Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season” album on Tori’s recommendation ✔️
Have I finished the book I started? Nope but there’s grace & tomorrow’s a new month haha!
I hope this inspires you to celebrate amongst what feels mundane maybe by even making your own monthly “bucket list”! Can this gal do it for a year? Stick around to find out.
