May

Hi, friend! Thanks for being here. As I sit cuddled upon my couch munching on leftover fried rice, the smell of freshly baked sourdough swirling in the air, & listen to the thunder roll outside, I’m extra grateful to be chatting with you! Sometimes I feel a little silly typing out recountings of the things happening in my world but at the same time I love having this space to write. It’s a fun & creative outlet for me. And as always, I hope to provide at least a little spark of inspiration for your own happenings & celebrations. So thanks again for meeting me here. It means a ton to me.

May is one of my very favorite months. Spring melts into summertime & it is my birthday month after all haha! I blinked & May was gone but not the memories so let’s hop to it, shall we?

“Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good & acceptable & perfect.”

– Romans 12:2

The church I’m part of did a “Digital Detox” series this month. These talks along with my slow walk through “The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry” have had me chewing on things I give my attention to. I want to live alert, present, abundant. I want to notice details & pay better attention to the conversations I’m engaged in. Hence this month’s verse.

Cinco de Mayo – May 5th 😉

It’s probably because I was raised in Texas but I LOVE a fiesta! The work gals & I commemorated the day with lots of dips & chips (the best amirite??). I also worked on some fun confetti-dipped margarita glasses for a reel for The Confetti Bar so obvi I had to fill them with a tasty frozen beverage.

Frozen Coconut Limeades:

  • 5 cups of ice
  • 3/4 cup cream of coconut
  • 4 to 6 tablespoons of frozen limeade concentrate
  • 3 tablespoons of water
  • Place all ingredients in a blender & blend until smooth. (Feel free to booze it up – I added a splash of rum. 😉)

Mother’s Day – May 14th

My best girl came to visit for a Mother’s Day/birthday/packing party! I adore this lady & you can read more thoughts on my Mamma Mia here.

If you find yourself in Columbia, TN (where some of the Hannah Montana Movie was filmed might I add 💁🏼‍♀️) eat at Mama Mila’s! It almost feels like a well-kept secret I shouldn’t share but we’re pals so I’ll let you in on it. My mom loves Italian food so in hearing several friends rave about Mama Mila’s, a level of known-to-sell-out good, I knew this is where we needed to go. I anticipated a line out the the door & we were met with just that. In fact, it was my only clue that we were in the right place because there was not a sign to be seen on the building haha! Mom was like “are you sure we’re in the right place?” to which I (outwardly) confidently replied “yes!” having never been there before lol. We decided either way it must be good if there were that many people waiting to get in! Sure enough, once we rounded the corner, there was a sandwich board sign to reassure us we were at the correct restaurant. Inside the building was a whole other experience! The kitchen is open to the dining room so we saw Mama Mila herself cooking up a storm with her staff. Just in case you had the image of an old Italian grandma in your head like I did – let me tell you – mama is a young fiery thing ready get your fresh food out to you ASAP! Will be going again!

My Birthday – May 16th

Speaking of mom – she brought “27” sparklers to celebrate with a Crumbl cookie! And my sweet friends threw me a waffle & pancake spring party at work! How sweet, right? Aubrey & I have been wanting to host a breezy spring picnic party but with schedules, it wasn’t going to happen in the way we had originally planned – but I’d say this surprise was even better!

I’ve declared this my twenty-70’s year so I expect it to be v groovy…& maybe even far out!

Moving Day – May 20th

I moved! Same state, different apartment. I’m one of those weird people who loves organizing & I’m a natural nester so it’s been a blast settling into my new space. Looking forward to establishing new rhythms & hosting more gatherings of course! (I cannot take credit for the wallpaper on the garage door but are you as obsessed with it as I am??) Shoutout to my moving crew – so grateful for you, friends!

International Burger Day – May 28th

Burgers are a classic that I am always down for! Why not dedicate a day to them & order a shake too?

Bucket List

  • Have a fun girls weekend with mom ✔️
  • Turn 27 ✔️
  • Move ✔️

With all the hustle & bustle that comes with a move, this was a light month as far as the quantity of celebrations but the quality was there. ☺️ I just finished reading this summer’s issue of Magnolia Journal & I am ready for this to “be a summer {I} savor”. So, hey there, June! It’s nice to see ya!
